Numerous studies have been conducted on the correlation between occlusion and posture. However, because of the multiple somatosensory inputs and various forces that are involved in occlusion, it has been difficult to analyse its relationship with posture. My research has identified a mechanism underlying the association between the oral environment and upright posture during bipedal standing.
The position of the tongue is thought to influence the alignment of the teeth and can cause malocclusion. This research confirmed that the position of the tongue when at rest can greatly influence human posture. It is important to ensure that the adsorption of the tongue to the palate is strong and to correct related defects as early as possible. The position of the tongue is the key to maintaining both good teeth and good posture.
This technique can be adopted by anybody, free of charge, anytime and anywhere. In recent times, there has been a worrying trend for medical expenses to increase worldwide. Good posture can have significant health-related benefits
